What can I expect during a therapy session?
During a therapy session with me, you can expect a safe and confidential environment where you can openly discuss your thoughts and feelings. I will listen attentively, offer guidance, and work collaboratively with you to explore solutions and promote personal growth.
What does the first appointment look like?
During the first appointment it will be the time for you to start and share your story. We will talk about your goals and what you would like to change. It is also a good time to begin establishing a relationship and see if we are a good fit to work with one another. It will be the time for you to start thinking about what you would like to get out of therapy and for me to start thinking about how I can help you.
How can therapy help me?
Making the decision to see a therapist is a big step and you might still feel apprehensive about the process. It is normal to feel nervous about your first appointment, but therapy is a partnership and we will share in the journey together. In therapy, I will not have all the answers to your concerns, I will listen and ask thoughtful questions, and encourage you to make your own decisions. Your decisions and insight will shape the direction of our work together and allow me to offer opinions and suggestions on how you can make positive changes in your life.
Will my insurance cover our sessions?
I am and Out-of-Network Provider and I will provide clients with a Superbill that can be submitted to insurance providers for possible reimbursement.
What is the cancellation policy?
There is a 24 hour cancellation/no-show policy. If you fail to cancel your appointment in time, there will be a $50 charge. Exception will be made for emergencies.
How much do you charge?
There is a $160 out-of-pocket charge for a 53-minute individual session and a $250 out-of-pocket charge for an initial diagnostic assessment.
Do you provide in-person or online counseling?
I provide both in-person and online counseling. In-person counseling is conducting at the clinic in Edina. Both types of appointments are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8am - 6pm.
How can you know if I am the right therapist for you?
The only way to know if I am a good match for you is to come in for a session. Most clients are able to sense if I am the right therapist within the first few meetings. I also recommend that you read the information that is provided on this website and my other online listings (Psychology Today, Therapy Den, Good Therapy, and Mental Health Match). I also recommend that you ask me questions during your free 15-30 minute scheduling consultation.
How long does therapy take?
The therapeutic process is different for each individual and the length of our time together depends on the outcomes you would like to achieve. During our time together we will discuss goals and outcomes and figure out the appropriate time that is needed for you to achieve what you want from the process.
